Spring Camp | Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 3

Snow, slush, showers, or sun
Come to Assiniboine Park for some Spring Break fun!
We don’t know what the weather might do,
But we will certainly have fun planned for you.
We’ll see animals with hair straight and curled,
And become a force to save the world.

Our Spring Break Camp focuses on exciting educational and experiential activities for children. If you want to make sure your child experiences everything, sign them up for the entire week, or you can sign up for individual days that work with your schedule. This year the camp’s theme is based on joining forces to take action, and each day could focus on plants, animals, art, and recreation. Their interactive adventures will have them meeting some of our animal ambassadors and exploring the many parts of Assiniboine Park and Zoo.

Monday, March 30: Northern Explorers
It’s time to travel north to discover why our climate is changing. We won’t let any snow stop us as we journey to Churchill to meet our Polar Bears and other animals of the tundra. We can explore the changes these animals experience and how they deal with the cold. It may be our last chance for some winter fun, or a chance to see what new adventures blossom with spring.

Tuesday, March 31: Rain Forest Rangers
Campers will have the chance to beat their winter blues by enjoying a tropical break at Toucan Ridge. Today, we will celebrate the lush green of plants, and the colourful animals that love the heat. It is definitely a jungle in here, and you should see the fun we are going to have as we learn how to protect these precious forests.

Wednesday, April 1: Wave Riders
Campers will take on the role of junior marine biologists as they discover the aquatic animals at our zoo. From stingrays to polar bears and seals, students will explore the world of water and how we can conserve this wonderful resource. We will see what sort of splash we can make to help turn the tides.

Thursday, April 2: Community Connectors
We don’t have to travel far to have fun and learn how to protect our planet! There are amazing animals living in our own backyard. We will adventure through our local landscapes of forest and prairies to explore what everyone is doing to make the world a better place. We will celebrate Indigenous culture, discover how everything is connected, and how we can spread joy while having a great time at our Park and Zoo.

Friday, April 3: Guardians of the Planet
Our planet is in peril, and it will be up to our newest batch of Guardians to bring some cosmic solutions to help Earth’s endangered animals and ecosystems. Our adventures will take us around the world to the distant lands of Asia, as we explore and discover how our actions can lead to change.

This camp is open to children enrolled in Gr. 1-6 for the 2019/2020 school year.
