It's construction season!

As part of the 2018 Regional Street Renewal Program, the City of Winnipeg will be undertaking construction on ROBLIN BOULEVARD and ASSINIBOINE PARK DRIVE this summer. We hope the following information and travel tips will make your Park and Zoo visits a little smoother this summer.

  • Roblin Boulevard from Chalfont Boulevard to Shaftesbury Boulevard. This is the stretch of Roblin right in front of the Park and Zoo across from Assiniboine Forest and the Tuxedo Golf Course.
  • Assiniboine Park Drive from Roblin to Commissary Drive. This is on the far west side of the Park.
  • Construction on Roblin Boulevard - May 22 to mid-October (estimated)
  • Construction on Assiniboine Park Drive - July 3 to the end of August (estimated)
  • Construction work will occur from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday.
  • Timeline and schedule are subject to change due to weather delays and other variables.
  • There will be lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
  • Approaching the Park and Zoo on Corydon/Roblin from the east will not be affected.
  • Approaching on Roblin from the west will be a little trickier. Left hand turns into the Park and Zoo will be restricted at times.

  • The section of road between Roblin and Commissary Drive will be closed from July 3 to the end of August. No through traffic.
  • Vehicles exiting the Park on the west side will be able to use Commissary Drive.
  • Picnic sites 1 - 3 and the recreational fields on the west side of the Park will not be accessible by vehicle during the construction period.

    • If at all possible, access the Park and Zoo from the east using Wellington or Corydon/Roblin or from the south using Shaftesbury.
    • If coming from the west, consider adjusting your route and approaching from Shaftesbury. You can go straight into the Park at the intersection of Shaftesbury and Roblin/Corydon or turn left and approach the Zoo entrance from the east.
    • Exit the Park at Shaftesbury or Wellington.
    • When leaving the Zoo, if heading east, travel through the Park and exit at Shaftesbury or Wellington.
    • Walk, bike or take Winnipeg Transit. Bus service will continue as usual throughout the construction period.
